Forest 2 Home's signature hardwood sampler boxes include 10+ pounds of hardwood samples in a variety of Northern hardwood species. Choose between single species hardwood sampler boxes and get 10+ pounds of Ash, Cherry, Hard Maple, or Red Oak. You can also give our signature mixed species Hardwood Sampler Box a try, this box includes 10+ pounds of hardwood and a minimum of 3 different species, ranging from Hard Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Red Oak, White Oak, Red Maple, Basswood, Ash, Poplar, or Hickory. In each of these hardwood variety packs, the hardwood is kiln dried and surfaced-2-sides. Some pieces may contain small amounts of ingrown bark, pencil wane and sound knots. You can expect no splits, rotting or decay. The lengths range up to 12" and widths range from 1.5" - 6", making this box great to have around your shop for various woodworking projects.

Ambrosia Maple, commonly referred to as Wormy Maple, is not a distinct species of Maple hardwood. The Ambrosia beetle causes the wormy pattern in Soft Maple lumber and the result is very unique looking hardwood. Our Ambrosia Maple is technically Red Maple (Soft Maple). This run of Ambrosia Maple is full of character and features a nice blend of bright white and gray tones, unique discoloration and distinctive grain pattern. Expect boards to have natural features such as knots, wane, pith, worm holes, rough edges, and/or splits. You will not receive boards with large holes or rot.

Select between a 10 board feet box and a 20 board feet box. Boxes are packed with boards that are surfaced-2-sides and come 4/4 (1 inch thick), range from 4 to 8 inches in width, and range from 1 to 6 feet in length. These boxes are packed based on board footage and not by board size. Walnut is the darkest of the hardwoods and is known for its rich brown color. This hardwood adds an elegant look to your various interior projects. It is straight-grained and machines well. It has a medium texture and can be stained or polished to an excellent finish. These boards are surfaced-two-sides with square edges. Our hardwood isn’t a finished thickness (hit or miss) and may still require you to flatten, plane, shape or sand your boards to fit your project.

A member of the Walnut family, Butternut, is often referred to as “White Walnut,” because of its light tan to cinnamon-colored heartwood. With a cathedral like grain pattern, our Butternut is full of character and can make your project stand out from the crowd. Expect boards to have natural features such as knots, wane, pith, worm holes, rough edges, and/or splits. Select between a 10 board feet box and a 20 board feet box. Hard Maple is a light cream color with subtle red undertones. This hardwood’s density and smooth texture adds durability and a polished look to your various interior projects. Each cutting board kit is part of an exclusive collection and contains the hardwood boards needed to make a premium cutting board. Pre-cut boards make it easy for you to follow our finished design or allow you to add your own spin by creating a custom pattern for your cutting board.
