Sample Ambrosia, also known as Wormy, and Curly Maple with the ultimate 4/4 Maple Sampler Box. This run of Ambrosia Maple is full of character and features a nice blend of bright white and gray tones, unique discoloration and distinctive grain pattern. The Curly Maple figuring is a horizontal pattern that is perpendicular to the wood grain. Once you apply a finish, the Curly Maple boards will come alive! Expect boards to have natural features such as pin knots, wane, pith, worm holes, rough edges, and/or splits.

Select between a 10 board feet box and a 20 board feet box. Your box will be packed with 50 percent Ambrosia and 50 percent Curly Maple boards. All boards are surfaced-2-sides and come 4/4 (1 inch thick), range from 3 to 8 inches in width, and range from 1 to 6 feet in length. These boxes are packed based on board footage and not by board size. The Ambrosia beetle causes the wormy pattern in Soft Maple lumber and the result is very unique looking hardwood. Our Ambrosia Maple is technically Red Maple (Soft Maple). Good and bad

This was my second bundle of 20 BF of ambrosia maple. The first bundle I would give a five star rating, good character and a variety of dimensions. The second bundle I was hoping to get a range of board widths and it was all 4 inches. The boards were of very good quality and character, just lacking in the one dimension.

Nice wood. Half were 2-15/16, and the other half 2-7/8. Not a problem, easily fixed. Four of the boards had strong saw marks on both flats, again, easily fixed, but not exactly S2S. Chipped corners on 4 of the boards.
Overall, a good purchase. I needed all the boards to be equal in size and eventually got them there.

Surpassed my Expectations

The lumber is of excellent quality and has a beautiful grain pattern that is smooth to the touch. It is also very sturdy and durable. To enhance the natural beauty of the lumber, I used some fine grit and paper to smooth out any rough spots and then applied a coat of mineral oil. The result was stunning - the wood was shining, and the grain pattern was even more pronounced.

In terms of value, I think the price is very reasonable, considering the premium quality of the lumber. You've got a lifelong customer now.
