In May, Forest 2 Home partnered with Char Miller-King for the inaugural Mental Health Action Day. From then onwards, our relationship continued, and we knew Char would be a perfect partner for the F2H Gives Back Campaign. Char is an incredible teacher, woodworker, wife, and mother-of-4 and has insurmountable levels of creativity. For Char’s donation location, she chose No Kid Hungry, a national campaign working to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world. Read on for Char’s personal project testimony:
“Before I became a full-time woodshop teacher and content creator, I worked closely with the Georgia chapter of the nationwide non-profit, No Kid Hungry, for four years. My role of silent auction manager and stage manager was a small part of the millions of dollars raised to fight childhood hunger. In my state, one in four children are without access to food; as a mom of four that really hits home. No Kid Hungry ensures that as many children as possible have the necessary nutrients they need to learn and thrive. Not just during the school year but throughout the summer as well.
I will be donating this serving tray with the NKH logo engraved. At first glance, the logo appears to be an apple, but if you look closely at this multi stable perception, you can see that it is also the faces of two children. The children that need to be helped all over the land. As a maker and a servant, I am giving back a portion of what I have been so richly blessed with.”
Char’s project will be sent to the No Kid Hungry national headquarters to be auctioned off when they resume in person gala’s, with all proceeds going directly to support the organization.
What Forest 2 Home lumber did Char use for her custom serving tray?
Char’s project was created with a 1 in x 6 in x 24 in Cherry kit, 1 x 3 x 24 Cherry kit and 1 x 4 x 24 Hard Maple kit.
About F2H Gives Back
Forest 2 Home has been dedicated to supporting woodworkers nationwide by providing affordable, premium quality lumber. We were recently motivated to extend our promise of supporting the individual woodworker to the communities in which they reside. The F2H Gives Back Campaign launched in April 2021, giving us the opportunity to partner with our woodworking community to give back to local towns, organizations and communities through their talent and passion for woodworking. F2H Gives Back is a monthly initiative that allows partners to use their expertise to build items, made of donated Forest 2 Home lumber, to give to a local organization or non-profit of their choice. The goal of this initiative is to make an impact and strengthen local communities around the United States.
