Austin Hager is an incredible member of the Forest 2 Home community who partnered with us as our September F2H Gives Back campaign partner! You may recognize Austin from his Corded Bench Tutorial or as one of our partners from Mental Health Action Day (Austin also write a blog about Finding Mental Health in the Workshop). For his F2H Gives Back donation location, Austin chose the Association of Northwest Steelheaders (ANWS)-here is what he had to say about choosing this organization:
"Growing up in the outdoors of New England, fishing both fresh and saltwater, its something that is very important to me. I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to make these cutting boards to put up for auction for this non profit so I can continue to support the preservation of the great outdoors in any way I can! Hoping one day my future children will be able to enjoy the same kind of experiences I had on the water."
The Association of Northwest Steelheaders (ANWS) is an organization with a core mission of protecting fisheries and promoting safe and sustainable fishing now for future generations. Founded in 1960, ANWS is one of the oldest and most cherished conservations and sport fishing advocacy groups in the Pacific Northwest. With programs including youth conservation education, angler education, protecting public access to water ways and advocating for fishing, the Association of Northwest Steelheaders is able to support their core mission.
What Forest 2 Home lumber did Austin use for his custom wooden board?
For this custom made project, Austin used Cherry wood and Hard Maple wood from the Forest 2 Home Hardwood Basics Box. Austin made a second fish featuring Cherry hardwood, Hard Maple hardwood and Walnut hardwood.
About F2H Gives Back
Forest 2 Home has been dedicated to supporting woodworkers nationwide by providing affordable, premium quality lumber. We were recently motivated to extend our promise of supporting the individual woodworker to the communities in which they reside. The F2H Gives Back Campaign launched in April 2021, giving us the opportunity to partner with our woodworking community to give back to local towns, organizations, and communities through their talent and passion for woodworking. F2H Gives Back is a monthly initiative that allows partners to use their expertise to build items, made of donated Forest 2 Home lumber, to give to a local organization or non-profit of their choice. The goal of this initiative is to make an impact and strengthen local communities around the United States.
